BRONX: Land of the Rising TANAKA-SAN

WELCOME MASAHIRO TANAKA
I won't be the first nor will I be the last to say this. The New York Yankees have officially announced that they have signed the 25 year old out of Japan. The contract is for 7 years $155M. The Yankees are also on the hook for a $20M posting fee to Tanaka's former team in Japan. (Rakuten) That total number might sound familiar because that 7 years $175M is what the figures looked like for the deal offered to Robinson Can(WHO)? With the latest addition to the rotation it looks like Masahiro will likely man the 2nd or 3rd spot in the rotation. A rotation that will include CC Sabathia, Hiroki Kuroda & Ivan Nova. The 5th spot will be up for grabs during Spring Training with names like Adam Warren, Vidal Nuno, David Phelps and Michael Pineda. The Yankees did have some help of a former member of the squad in the recruiting side of things. "Godzilla" Hedeki Matsui took part on a video that was shown to Tanaka as well as some graphics that displayed how Masahiro's stuff would project in Yankee Stadium. With pitchers and catchers due to report in 23 days and first work the day after he will be put right into the mix of things. I myself am excited to see how his stuff plays out on this rotation and adding in some youth. I will be at some of the work outs to watch him first hand.
